On March 25, 2019, the listing of our company’s stock has moved from the JASDAQ Standard to the First Section of Tokyo Stock Exchange. It is thanks to the support of our shareholders, customers, business partners, and many other stakeholders over many years, and I would like to express my sincere gratitude for that.
We started business operation in 1977. At the time, in order to buy a used car, there was no way but to look around in one of the used car dealers that are scattered around the city. Our company's founder and current chairman, Mr. Yokoyama, also faced many troubles himself when trying to buy a car, and from this experience, he eventually launched the used-car information magazine, "Used Vehicle Tsushin." The endeavor to enable car users to search for cars more conveniently in a time when information magazines weren't distributed was our company's starting point. This idea changed its media from information magazines to the Internet, and then smartphones, but we think that we should keep this idea for eternity.
Our company's strengths are that we have a business foundation of more than 30,000 companies nationwide in the field of automobile-related information; it covers the business segments of new cars, used cars, and maintenance, and also that we have our own media, which utilize the massive amount of data collected from these companies. Currently, Goo-net has grown to be the largest domestic car information website with more than 14,000 client companies and data on about 400,000 registered cars. In the future, we will take advantage of our company's strengths of having our own media and the data collected thanks to a business foundation that covers the whole country, and we plan to develop new services while expanding the business segments.
As new technologies such as AI and IoT are advancing, we expect the environment surrounding us to dramatically change. Our company, which started the first step of its path with the challenge of launching one used-car information magazine, will not fear the ever-changing times, but will see it as an opportunity for growth, and enjoy challenging these changing times more than ever.
Last but not least, taking our listing in the first section of Tokyo Stock Exchange as a new start, all of us will join hands to achieve its “Dream,” offer services that would bring to the world a new “Inspiration” and “Joy,” improve our corporate value, and create a company that is needed by society. We would appreciate your continued support and encouragement.
